This week on Black Politics with Chris Owens, Saturday August 30, 2008
A message from your host, Chris Owens:
On this week’s show, I’m talking with world-renowned poet, writer, commentator, activist, and educator, Nikki Giovanni.
We’re talking about what the 3rd year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina means to her; how to win the battleground states in this presidential election; who drove and who undermined the friendship between abolitionist Frederick Douglass and president Abraham Lincoln (the topic of her latest book, “Lincoln and Douglass: An American Friendship”) and much more. Giovanni is the author of some 30 books for both adults and children and is Distinguished Professor English at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. She'll join me on the line from Christiansburg, Virginia.
Plus check out my exciting account of the DNC on our show page...
