ONE OF THE MAJOR FAILURES OF MCCAIN AND THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION IS ITS COMPLETE ABANDONMENT OF ANY CONSISTENT, SERIOUS ATTEMPT TO MEDIATE THE ARAB-ISRAELI CONFLICT. AMERICA MUST ALWAYS BE CONCERNED ABOUT ITS ABILITY TO FUNCTION AS A MEDIATOR IN THIS MATTER. THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION WAS DOA ON THIS ISSUE, AND AS A RESULT WE HAD INTIFADA AND THEN 9/11 AND AGGRESSIVE AL QAEDA.
HISTORICALLY, JEWS AND ARABS ARE NOT ENEMIES (THEY CO-EXISTED IN PERSIA FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME). THE CURRENT CONFLICT CAN IN FACT BE RESOLVED, AND THIS COULD SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE INTERNATIONAL TERRORISM, BY TAKING AWAY ITS REASON TO EXIST.
ISRAEL HAS A PEACE TREATY WITH EGYPT AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN BROKEN.
ALSO, AT THE SAME TIME A TWO STATE SOLUTION TO THE PALESTINIAN/ARAB-ISRAELI CONFLICT IS RESOLVED, ARAB GOVERNMENTS MUST STAND UP AGAINST RELIGIOUS EXTREMISM AND THE USE OF TERRORIST TACTICS. TERRORISM HAS PROVEN TOO COSTLY A STRATEGY FOR ARAB PEOPLES, AND SHOULD BE ABANDONED AS A STRATEGY. ARABS WOULD DO BETTER TO FORM LABOR UNIONS.
