Air America's Live DNC Coverage: Day 3
UPDATE: BREAKING... Clinton calls for a voice acclamation to Nominate Obama... Obama now the nominee and Clinton has basically taken the mantle of the most presitgiuos Democratic member of the Senate from Ted Kennedy..(ed..)
Stick around to hear and see our special coverage
Our Air America Special Coverage of the Democratic Convention kicks off tonight at 6:00 PM eastern with The Rachel Maddow Show's Unconventional Convention coverage from radio row in the Pepsi Center -- and we'll also be streaming that live right here on airamerica.com. Rachel passes the baton to me at 8:00 PM eastern when things start heating up on the convention floor with the nominating speeches for both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton followed by the roll call of the states. The big question remains: will the Clinton forces move Barack Obama's nomination by acclamation -- possibly a motion made by Senator Clinton herself -- or will "catharsis" require every state and territory to cast all their votes down to the very last? We'll also be hearing tonight from former President Bill Clinton, in a speech that will be as heavily parsed as Hillary's was last night. Then finally we'll hear from the vice presidential nominee, Delaware Senator Joe Biden, who is expected to deliver a red meat attack on his friend a colleague of more than 30 years, John McSame...er, McCain. As Hillary put it memorably last night: "No way. No how. No McCain!"
We're also expecting visits from former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, director Spike Lee and other surprise guests...that's all tonight on Air America's continuing Special Coverage of the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado. We're your progressive voice live on the scene...you don't want to miss it!

You guys better get a "bump" quick....
Third day of your convention and McCain is up two points. That has NEVER happened before. Historically you should be up 10. Something is very wrong.

Elections aren't won in national polling, assclown. They are won in the voting booth.
(and, in one case, lost in the voting booth but won in the Supreme Court)
You take your national polls yielding data of little worth.
I'll take state polling booths yielding electoral votes.

They certainly don't reflect the trends I'm seeing on the major reputable polls.

But in my head Id like to hear, and think the right wingers would respond positively to these phrases,
Either, "Snowballs chance in Hell"
or "Snowflakes chance in hell"
and ,"Hey, and people in Hell want icewater,".
Try it once or twice and it doesnt get any traction never mind and forget about it.

Talk about some whacky shit. Apparently these nut jobs credit McCain for killing the dinosaurs. I wonder if it will come up at the republican convention?

By f u bush2August 27, 2008 - 6:34pmIt's a good thing some of us had
enough sense to separate daily affairs and religious beliefs. Otherwise, instead of going to a doctor to get a cure for a disease, we would be going to some religious middle man whose job it was to tell us why we sucked so badly that God's wrath came upon us, while directing us to the closest Benny Hinn in a Box Urgent Healing Center (for a commission.)
We would be paying unaffordable premiums for for-profit devine care insurance policies that only reimbursed submissive divine care providers in a small network, making it less practical and more cumbersome to make sure your policy covers your devine care should God decide to strike you down outside of the small provider network area.
Many would be disqualified from coverage on the basis of pre-exist sinfullness that apparently brings about the same form of wrath each time God decides to strike you down.
Your sins, responsible for your wrath, as well as the wrath itself, would be diligently documented each time you got a new job and become common knowledge of the potential employer's office staff and whoever they decide to share it with, not to mention it would be available for persusal by any for-profit devine care insurance company and whoever they decide to share it with, be that the government or not. Keep in mind we would be living in theocracy.

By AntillectualAugust 27, 2008 - 7:42pmThe real math
Obama got 18 million votes.
Hillary got 18 million votes.
The entire Republican party casted 18 million votes with only 9.5 million of those going to McCain.
If we assume every Republican will vote the same in November, McCain starts with 18 mill.
According to the corporate media, about a third of Hillary voters plan to vote for him. That's another 6 mill for McCain bringing his total to 24 mill.
If the remaining 12 mill Hill votes go to Obama, that makes 30 mill, which brings me to my question.
Why don't the corporate media "polls" show at least a 10 point difference?

Of those 36 million votes on the Dem side, a large number are newly registered voters.
Surely those folks don't make it into polling of "likely voters".
I mean, we know they're just young and new voters who aren't going to and do not vote.
Nevermind that they all just did.
How silly to think they'd take the time to do so in the primary, only to not show when the chips are down in November. That's utterly moronic, and likely to be the cause of utter surprise when a wave hits on November 4th.
That's our job. Bringing the wave.
Ignore the pundits.
Ignore the polls.
Ignore the attack ads.
Ignore media coverage leading into election day.
For the next month and a half: roll up the sleeves and register, register, register.
http://www.registrationbyworkingassets.com/register/?source=homedropdown...
Build the wave.
http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/actioncenter
Then, on election day, send it crashing into the voting booths.
http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/phonebankmap/
Wiping away the past.
Let's do this.

By dewbie dubaiAugust 27, 2008 - 8:05pmBill Clinton just aced another one
In about 10 minutes, he managed to both outline the ways in which Obama is ready to be president, and to discuss why Crash W. McBush would be a really really bad idea.
Game and set to the Dems. Next week, the repubs will give us a whole week of rah-rah-Iraq and b-hussein-not-ready. Let's hope the voters get struck by a thought this time!

I only caught part of it. I'm sure he did well as did Hillary. I'll watch a replay later.
I'm biting my tongue though because I hear things in these speeches that bother based on the history of the politicians. I feel like this is all a sporting event and the ultimate benefactors are the corporate interests regardless of party. But I'm playing the game for a few years and being a team player.
