Brad Pitt Gets Architectural Digest Cover For New Orleans Green Homes

By Dorsey Shaw

In case you didn't know, Brad Pitt really digs architecture.

Through work in New Orleans with his Make It Right Foundation, Pitt is trying to make a difference by bringing together architects, residents and community leaders to create guidelines for rebuilding. Their goal is to make new homes that are affordable while incorporating green technology, sustainable design and being adaptable to survive the unpredictable weather of New Orleans.

For all his efforts he'll be gracing the cover of the January '09 Architectural Digest. It's a nice departure from seeing him appear on all the gossip trash that cashes in on his face so I'll bet he's got to be really proud of this.

With 150 homes ready to be completed, Pitt and his foundation hope to bring back the Lower 9th Ward and use that model for other areas around the world. “We’ve cracked something here…these houses redefine affordable housing…this is a proving ground for a bigger idea that could work globally,” he told the magazine. “This project is not mine anymore. It’s so beyond me.”
