187 Nations Discuss Climate Change

Over the next two weeks, delegates from187 nations with be meeting in Poland to discuss how to fight climate change and create a new climate change treaty to succeed the Kyoto Protocol. Developing nations today pushed richer nations to supply cash to them as soon as possible, in order to help fight the effects of climate change, such as: powerful cyclones, rising seas, droughts and floods.
The nations hope to have an agreement by the end of 2009 in Copenhagen a new treaty that will replace the Kyoto Protocol. Yvo de Boer, head of the U.N. Climate Change Secretariat, told reporters:
I think it's really important, especially in the context of the financial crisis, to see how we can craft a Copenhagen agreement that makes it clear how financial resources will be generated.

The US didn't agree to Kyoto because
Pres Bush thought it would harm the economy. Wrong.
Pres Clinton also sat on it for almost three years because the Byrd-Hagel resolution put the Senate on record 95-0 that they would not pass any treaty that required reductions in the US economy without some pain from the big developing countries such a China.

Gotta love those "K Street" lobbyists! Especially given that they only hired republican lobbyists.
