Jeb Bush to Run for Senate

By Tim Einenkel

The former governor of Florida Jeb Bush says that he'll will run for the current Senate seat held by Republican Mel Martinez. Politico has more:

Martinez announced Tuesday that he will not seek reelection in 2010. Asked whether he was interested in running for the seat then, Bush told Politico by e-mail Tuesday night: “I am considering it.”

A source close to Bush said he'll be thoughtful and methodical about the decision-making process. He will consider the impact a race would have on his family and his business and whether or not the U.S. Senate is the best forum from which to continue his advocacy for issues such as education, immigration and GOP solutions to health care reform.

In an interview with Politico immediately after November’s election, the former governor said the Republican Party should take four primary steps to regain favor with voters: Show no tolerance for corruption, practice what it preaches about limiting the scope of government (“There should not be such a thing as a Big Government Republican”), stand for working families and small business, and embrace reform.

bakashah!

FRist! things FRist!: This...

Jeb Bush says that he'll will run for the current Senate seat

...is incorrect grammar.

But moreover...

The story does not say what the title of this thread says it says.
Nor does it say what the introduction to the story says it says.
Nor did Jeb Bush say what this post says he said.

But, hey. So long as we're not shooting for accuracy...

(as an aside: whenever a web tech wants to get around to ironing out the kinks so as to cut down on load time and the like, it'd be greatly appreciated. we've only been waiting a year or more...)

Okay

...so who's surprised by this?

*crickets*

Watch for Jeb to toss his hat into the ring in 2012. You heard it here first.

But, but, but......Palin is supposed to be the future of the

repub party! Didn't you get the memo yet?

My question is how anxious will repubs be to have the Bush name on a ballot any time soon?

We can only hope to be so lucky. Seriously: an election that pits "Obama V. Bush"?
Something tells me round 2 won't go any better for them than round 1 did this time.

Run, Jeb, run!

Shouldn't we be considering a consitutional amendment to

ban any members of the Bush family from ever holding elective office again? W will go down as the worst president in history, and the damage he caused to the economy here and globally, the wars he started, the laws he broke, should make everyone realize that we can never, ever afford to let anyone from the Bush crime family ever have power again. Daddy wasn't much better, as he broke the record for largest deficits in history that his predecessor Reagan had set, records that would stand until his son snuck into office. Or how about Marvin Bush, so adept at stealing money during the savings and loan crisis? Jeb may seem better, but you have to remember his actions during the Terry Schiavo fiasco, changing the law so he could pander to the demands of the anti-euthanasia crowd.

Nothing in the history of the Bush family convinces me that we should allow Jeb or any other Bush to ever occupy elected office ever again.
