He's the President, Stupid

Al Qaeda deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri called Barack Obama a house Negro in a tape that surfaced this week. Before that, everyone’s favorite spoiler Ralph Nader called Obama an Uncle Tom. The question these zingers beg is similar to the one a lot of progressives want to ask: Is Obama a Clinton Democrat in Progressive clothing—the blather about change nothing more that that old sizzle but no steak routine? Marketing 101?
Given my checkered past as an anti-war activist/publisher and the work I did with the Unabomber, I guess it follows that the parade of Clintonista’s into Obama’s White House would bug me.
The reason is simple: I allowed myself to believe that Obama was more liberal than he actually is.
When I was in college I often drove from Vermont to Connecticut on weekends to visit my ailing step-father. He was a Republican. I was not. The cassette I listened to in my silver Honda Prelude was a compilation of Malcolm X speeches, which I knew by heart. To me those speeches were better than punk rock.
I blanched the other day when Ayman al-Zawahiri was framing a critique of Barack Obama with the aid of Malcolm X’s infamous distinction between the house Negro and the field Negro because Zawahiri’s critique was potentially similar to mine. I want folks to see we have a fairly mainstream--seemingly competent--president-elect. Zawahiri wanted Muslims worldwide to know that Obama was Muslim in name alone. His message: do not be fooled. America is a menace, and Obama is a danger.
Thank God Zawahiri is right about the world, at least the version he inhabits. I think I’m right as well.
Post-80s candor is the hobgoblin here. Privileged language is a rainbow of ghettoized categories that smooths all the jagged edges of social discourse by over-determining who can say what. A person like Ralph Nader, among a certain set in society, would be applauded for calling the half African American president-elect an Uncle Tom to corporate America. People like Bill Ayers would have tilted at the supposed liberalism of Obama. I used to be one of the people applauding back when I was an elitist ideologue.
Are the accusations true? From the point of view of al Qaeda’s number two man? Indeed. From the point of view of many radical Americans? Sure. From the point of view of many Democrats? Fewer would say so. And why? Because Obama is an enlightened Clintonian Democrat.
Obama seems to truly believe in a better tomorrow, one that is in direct opposition to our nation’s recent past of exploitative social hierarchy and rotten business ethics. He seems to be forward looking. He seems to have a heart. And he has articulated a vision for that better tomorrow. In addition to these estimable characteristics, he also seems to have a great head on his shoulders and a strong desire to succeed that is expressed in measurable accomplishment.
Can you succeed by blowing things up? Look how far that got Osama bin Laden, Ted Kaczynski, and Bill Ayers. Look how far it got George W Bush. It gets you nowhere. Peace activists this week have made a little noise about Obama’s hawkish stance on Afghanistan and Pakistan. Obama is not a dove, but he is smart and sane. And smart, sane people don’t hurl bombs.
The Clinton people clamoring on board Obama’s peace train signify one thing: a bad frame. It’s no peace train. It’s a government train. It’s on tracks that have led to the same place since Eisenhower first told America to beware the military-industrial complex. Why? Because whether your gig is capturing oil tankers off the coast of Somalia or taking over countries, that’s where the money is. Obama didn’t invent this dynamic, but you don’t get to be president if you’re no good at playing the game.
A centrist government in this day and age is precisely what this country doesn’t need. It’s time for change. This is our moment. Or was that just good marketing? It makes me feel better to think it was a little bit of both.

US Officials Flunk Test of American History, Economics, Civics

By nonexistent manNovember 21, 2008 - 5:54pmExactly how did the GOP dump down the schools?
Put the blame where it belongs, the teachers unions. When you can't fire incompetent teachers, you get sub par education. I notice that it is the democrats that insist on keeping our children locked into failed public education, by their failure to support vouchers, than the GOP. Our children need to have options, choice, freedom to attend schools that are doing there jobs, which is educating, rather being stuck in schools that only indoctrinate. Until you get behind voucher's, I will have to say you are part of the problem, not part of the solution. As of now, you are letting your ideology interfere with common sense.

it works very well. Stupid people like you make it seem like it has failed because you cannot be educated. What do public schools indoctrinate? You dont know do you?

CIA officials, in great deference to the provacatuers who post regularly here, openly admit al queda is a total and complete fabrication, never having existed at any time. Watch the BBC documentary "The Power of Nightmares" to hear in their own words that fact.
Shortly before his untimely death, former British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook told the House of Commons that al queda is not really a terrorist group but a database of international smugglers used to funnel guerrillas, arms, and money, all sanctioned by the international banking industry.
The al queda terror organization was established by the CIA. al queda is nothing but a conveniently "Islamic" front which enables the CIA to commit crimes in the name of Moslems. It is well known that the Mujahadeen terrorists of Afghanistan were organized, trained and funded by the CIA using the Pakistani ISI as a "cut-out" in order to lure the Soviet Army into Afghanistan at the end of 1979.
al queda is understood internationally as CIA terrorism with an Islamic name and Islamic perpetrators. Afghanistan has, for all purposes, been destroyed in furtherance of American interests. (Afghanistan drug production is up 150% since 2001)
The al queda terror organization has caused immense damage to Islam, to Moslems worldwide, and to the interests of the peoples of all Arab and Moslem countries. The actions of al queda have only served to promote the interests of the U.S. and Israel, which are clearly interested in "reshaping" the Middle East in such a way that they can more easily rape and plunder the region at will.
The CIA is using the terrorist actions of its proxy al queda in order to give the U.S. an excuse to extend their power into and invade the Arab countries, first countries with rich plunder (oil) like Iraq, Iran, Saudia Arabia, and second any country which is a "threat" to Israel, or more exactly which Israel dislikes for whatever reason, since it is the international and domestic bankers best interest to further war policies which speed their economic and political takeover this country.
Another objective for which the CIA is using its proxy al queda is to engender fear and hate of Islam and Moslems worldwide. This corresponds to an old and tried ploy of colonizers: to slander and denigrate the target population so that it is acceptable and even called for to commit genocide against them.
The peoples of Ireland, Africa and the Americas have all suffered this tragedy, and these regions have been colonized. The next obvious victims are Arabs and Muslims by extension because they live in geographic areas rich in oil and other resources, and because Moslems as a collective are not white enough to be respected as full humans by the criminals in London, Washinton and Tel Aviv.
Wherever one looks for this al queda organization, from the mountains of Afghanistan to the 'sleeper cells', the American people, beholden to criminals in power, are chasing a phantom enemy and doing the bidding of international bankers.
The propaganda spewed by posts and comments on this Web site are blatently obvious to the objective observer. Wake Up Air Americans! Our country is being destroyed from the inside out and our "savior"/"camelot" is only going to speed up the process as proven by who he has chosen in his staff already.

Do we have to send all Americans who are over the age of 15 (let's say) to indoctrination camps just so they can understand that there IS a 'Constitution' and a Bill of Rights'? And what it says? Literally HALF of the population Doesn't understand the fundamentls of our laws? Well, that WOULD explain our trolls....

Another AQ plotter bites the dust

The Pakistanis may not like the Predator attacks in the lawless frontier territories, but the US continues to prove their effectiveness. They scored a big hit this morning when a drone-launched missile killed Rashid Rauf, the al-Qaeda plotter behind the failed 2006 transatlantic bombing attack. The bombing also killed another wanted senior AQ figure:
The alleged Al-Qaeda mastermind of a 2006 transatlantic airplane bombing plot was killed in a US missile attack in northwest Pakistan early Saturday, officials said.
Rashid Rauf died when a missile hit a tribesman’s house in the village of Alikhel, part of a border district known as a stronghold for Al-Qaeda and the Taliban militants.
Also among the five killed in the early morning incident was Egyptian Abu Zubair al-Misri, another wanted Al-Qaeda operative, a senior Pakistani security official said on condition of anonymity.
“The transatlantic bombing plot alleged mastermind Rashid Rauf was killed along with an Egyptian Al-Qaeda operative in the US missile strike in North Waziristan early Saturday,” a senior security official told AFP.
Pakistan can complain all it wants, but in Rauf’s case, they have no one to blame but themselves. They had Rauf in custody after the plot unraveled in 2006 but refused to extradite him. Instead, Rauf escaped in December 2007, and most people presumed he went back to the terrorist camps — a presumption that found confirmation today.
The Telegraph has an interesting thumbnail history of Rauf. His career started with murdering his uncle and transformed itself into high treason in a short period of time. Rauf apparently masterminded the “liquid bomb” scenario that now forces travelers to limit fluids to 3.5 ounces in carry-on luggage. He had every intention on killing people, especially his fellow Brits, in large numbers, as part of his efforts for al-Qaeda.
The speed and accuracy of the missile attacks over the last few months has been rather breathtaking. The US has found some excellent intelligence sources in the FATA, which has to have AQ leadership wondering which day will be their last. Pakistan continues to object, although some wonder how seriously, but the US has to keep playing out this string as long as possible. At some point, those cowards in the caves will have to start purging their organizations to eliminate the potential leaks, and that’s when the best opportunities will appear.

Under the clinton Administration, things were pretty good. There were jobs to be had, our civil rights were operational, and our national debt was decreasing. In the 8 years under the Clinton Administration, I was able to work, drink, smoke, love, and build my hobby projects with little or no government interference.
One of the rules I learned as a child was "never follow an ideal of a cliff." This maxim seem to be sadly lacking in many "progressives." (And when did "progressive start getting tarred with the ivory-idiot brush? I say we take the term back!)
Instead of trying to make a transitional system that will act as a bridge to better times, certain vocal "progressives" are pushing for some americanized version of the glorious cultural revolution.
Here's a few hints:
-Ralph Nader, while very, very pristine in his ideals (unless one looks at his labor relations records) is NEVER going to win.
-Instead of going on (and on, and on, and on) about the ideal system that we all "should" be using for energy/economy/pollution/national security/etc, how about you and the rest of the ivory get-along gang work out some systems that will work RIGHT NOW. As examples: most of us can't bicycle to work, don't have the money to go for completely organic diets, and need a certain amount of electricity to live.

Hummm. Talk is cheap. Putting people on the government payroll is not job creation, it is a "finger in the dike" solution. Just look at FDR and the depression. His programs extend extended the depression in this country by years, according to economists. But, hey, I'm willing to wait and see, before I make up my mind.

By momofukuNovember 22, 2008 - 10:14amAnd which economists would these be?
Can you name them? You cant? Would these economists be "conservative", like the economic policies that caused the depression and the economic crisis of today?
Your attempt at revising history failed as it always does. FDR's policies helped save capitalism and stopped death and suffering for millions. It eased the effects of the Republican depression. You are a liar.

You've already made up your "mind".
There are literally hundreds of thousands of works projects that have had ALL the numbers crunching, etc done. All that's lacking is the money. I don't see where or how getting these projects (which, BTW are infrastructure) are deemed to add ANYONE on to the "government payroll"....as in being DIRECTLY employed by the government. Those jobs are contracted out, and those workers are under the DIRECT employment of the companies who hire them.
Do yourself a favor and don't respond too quickly. Take the time to absorb what I've just said.
