Florida GOP meets in secret as Obama passes McCain in polls
Thursday, October 2, 2008

Florida Republican leaders hastily convened a top secret meeting this week to grapple with Sen. John McCain's sagging performance in this must-win state.

Their fears were confirmed Wednesday when four new polls showed Sen. Barack Obama leading, a reversal from just a few weeks ago when McCain was opening up an advantage.

The polls come amid a cascade of bad news about the economy, an issue that McCain has struggled with in recent days.

With some grass roots organizers complaining about coordination problems with the campaign, Republican Party chairman Jim Greer gathered top officials at the state headquarters in Tallahassee on Tuesday afternoon. He swore the group to secrecy.

When asked about it by the St. Petersburg Times, Greer confirmed the meeting. He largely declined to discuss what was said, but sought to play down any strife.

We must not forget...

Florida's huge potential for abuse, not to mention bullying gangs of Republicunt Youth disrupting the vote count.

With economic turmoil, Obama ahead in once red Colorado
Posted on Thursday, October 2, 2008
By Margaret Talev | McClatchy Newspapers

AURORA, Colo. — A cartoon taped to the door of Barack Obama's campaign headquarters in Fort Collins, Colorado's fifth largest city, depicts a young man with a clothespin over his nose. The caption says, "I registered because the economy stinks."

Since President Bush's call for a $700 billion Wall Street bailout and the first presidential debate, polls have found that Obama has edged ahead of Republican John McCain in this Western battleground state with nine electoral votes. Obama was up by 5 points, according to an average of five late-September surveys by the Web site RealClearPolitics.

An Obama win in once-red Colorado, which voted twice for President Bush but has since elected a Democratic governor and senator, could tip the election. The race is still close, however, and Republicans outnumber Democrats in the state by about 74,000. About one-third of Colorado's 3 million voters don't belong to either party.

"If Obama wins this state, it's indicative of other things happening around the country," said Bob Duffy, a Colorado State University political scientist. "This is a state that McCain should win."

Battleground Polls Show Stunning Shift To Obama
October 1, 2008 06:13 PM
Nico Pitney

Barack Obama has opened up significant leads in virtually every key battleground state, according to multiple polls released Wednesday. The size of the shift towards the Democratic nominee may indeed be historic.

"It is difficult to find a modern competitive presidential race that has swung so dramatically, so quickly and so sharply this late in the campaign," says Peter Brown of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "In the last 20 days, Sen. Barack Obama has gone from seven points down to eight points up in Florida, while widening his leads to eight points in Ohio and 15 points in Pennsylvania."

...

Florida: 51 - 43

Ohio: 50 - 42

Pennsylvania: 54 - 39

lorida: Obama 51%, McCain 47%

Minnesota: Obama 54%, McCain 43%

Missouri: Obama 49%, McCain 48%

Nevada: Obama 51%, McCain 47%

Virginia: Obama 53%, McCain 44%

McCain Pulling Out Of Michigan
Rachel Weiner | October 2, 2008 02:15 PM

The Politico reports that John McCain's electoral map is getting smaller:

John McCain is pulling out of Michigan, according to two Republicans, a stunning move a month away from Election Day that indicates the difficulty Republicans are having in finding blue states to put in play.

McCain will go off TV in Michigan, stop dropping mail there and send most of his staff to more competitive states, including Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida. Wisconsin went for Kerry in 2004, Ohio and Florida for Bush.

...

Sorry to disagree

FU, but it ain't over until it's over.

There's always Diebold. They could successfully steal Ohio and florida again and still win.

The only cure is a massive turnout for Obama.

TONIGHT'S DEBATE

Moderator: " Sarah, explain Rowe vs Wade ."

Sarah Palin: "Rowe vs Wade" are 2 methods I see from my porch, that The Russians use to slip pass those pesky icebergs into Alaska ".

Perhaps Palin should have paid Tina Fey to debate Biden. Tina would have much better answers. You can bet Tina Fey will have great material to use for her SNL skits. I bet if you ask Bush43 to name a USSC case other than Rowe vs Wade, even he could come up with " Bush v Gore " .

Just imagine if McCain won & couldn't finish out his term. You would have Palin with no foreign policy experience not knowing what to do in a crisis. McCain picked Palin to pander for the votes of pissed off Hillary supporters. McCain only met her once & knew virtually nothing about her. He made an idiotic choice for VP. He put winning an election above picking the best qualified choice he could to take his place to run the country should he won & couldn't finish his term. Anyone that votes for McCain/Palin has to be on LSD & on a very bad trip.Biden ha the experience to be president if need be. Palin doesn't.

Amen to that

My decision was secured the moment I heard her answer Charlie Gibson's question, "What do you take ['the Bush Doctrine'] to mean?", with a question of her own: "His world view?"

Let's remember folks

that when Sarah "Eye want two know jusst what the VeePee does every day" Palin has a script, she can be engaging, charming, feisty, and cute all at once. If Gwen Iffel fails to ask follow-up questions of Palin, rest assured that her handlers have forced her to memorize seventy or so scripts for each kind of question she might encounter.

We might also watch closely to see if she keeps grabbing or rubbing her ear, indicating that she's trying to hear her briefer's answer in her microscopic earpiece provided by the FBI.

"Ah'll Get back two ya!"--Sarah Palin, when asked if there were any Supreme Court decisions with which she disagreed.

"She should have been given a list from which to choose." --Former Senator Fred "Lazy Bones" Thompson, offering the Right Wing's rationalization of why it was okay that Palin could not even name a Supreme Court case, even Roe v. Wade, Bush v. Gore, or the recently-decided Exxon case that directly impacted Palin's Alaska constituents

You guys forgot a few for

You guys forgot a few for Biden.

The Obama loving moderator will be in a wheelchair due to a fall, so Joe should avoid telling her to stand up for the crowd.

He should probably avoid making racist jokes. Any racist jokes that slip out should not be followed with, "and I'm not joking."

He shouldn't say that Clinton would have been the better choice for V.P. again.

Also, Joe should know his boss' energy policy, what's your policy on clean coal going to be today Joe?

And finally, Joe should try to keep all off topic rants to under 45 minutes.

Sarah is going to destroy Biden, this one is gonna be fun!

Oh, and Joe shouldn't make

Oh, and Joe shouldn't make up anymore bullshit stories about getting shot at in Iraq or his helocopter being forced down in Afghanistan.

You are really reaching, Phony Vet

Is that the best you've got? That, and "The Polls Aren't Accurate 'Cos They're All LIBERAL!"

Jesus Christ. This election is going to be like shooting mercenaries in an unarmored Humvee.

You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.

I never said that the polls

I never said that the polls weren't accurate you chicken shit. Nice strawman jackass, I never denied that Obama is ahead. You, however, say that the polls are all accurate, yet you choose to deny the accuracy of radio ratings. You are the one picking and choosing which stats to believe based on whether or not you like what they say.

Oh, and also it was you that said that it was fine that the dems didn't stop the war so they could avoid being called names. I believe you said that this was the honorable and brave thing to do! According to you it is brave to not do what you believe is right because others may talk!

And in case you missed it, I convinced my daughter to stay out of the military, and instead to do the honorable thing and broadcast high school track meets to an audience of 3 for 9 years like you! Now THAT is bravery!!! Hiding behind a microphone and talking to nobody for 9 years is honorable! If you had an audience, people may judge you, can't have that!! Oh, and ripping on someone's family members during a debate like you do?? That is bravery too!!

Gee, why did you stop posting on the other thread? It wouldn't have anything to do with me wiping the floor with your sorry ass again would it? You chicken shit little bitch.

Are we getting a bit shrill and fearful?

Until you show some politeness around here, Joe Carpenter from Illinois, I will treat you in kind. But yes you have stated on numerous occasions that the polls aren't right. Deny it all you want, but it was your mainstay since 2006 when your party got its fat ass kicked.

As usual, another republicunt liar. Just where did Biden attack anyone? What debate were you watching? Face it, Art 15. You LOST. You're the coward here for hiding behind that keyboard and beating your sunken little chest like the false-macho BCD case that you are.

You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.

I think the advice above is a mistake.

.
Advice for him: Go after McCain. Anything a big strong man says to a 2nd place beauty queen is a mistake. Remember how everyone rushed to Hillary's side when she managed to squeeze out a tear. Palin is actually pretty. Because of her, it would be a million times worse for Joe.

Advice for her: Keep you answers to yes and no and say them with conviction. Remember, Bush answered every question with yes and no and lots of confidence. The bottom half (Republicans) were amazed at how he had such insight, he could break down complex problems into simple "yes and no" answers. Turns out that he was just "simple".
