Morning Roundup: Around the Web with "That One"

By Beau Friedlander

Hey ho, whaddaya know: the Crooks and Liars redesign looks hot! And John Amato posts a great video of Hannity getting hit with an Obama stick.

Folks, it's that time in the season to keep an eye on that lying GOP mouthpiece the Washington Times which for instance today reports that Obama is a thief and done got caught stealing low-income votes before anybody even voted. (I exaggerate, just like Fox News will by suppertime.)

In case you missed the "that one" bit from last night's debate, Wonkette's got it here.

Time to panic. Seriously. The NIKKEI slid more 9%. (The New York Times)

If you comment here, please let me know if you suspect Naomi Wolf, while intelligent and more, might also be somewhat crackers. Read here about the secret troop surge on America's streets. (Alternet)

Bloomberg reports oil at 10-month low. Other things used to make "things" also becoming increasingly worthless because no one will be making anything soon.

I'd never heard the term "dog-whistle racism" but I now think Open Left's Daniel de Groot is a genius.

The Los Angeles Times on the Porter Ranch murder-suicide and how it's coming to a town near you.

And say good bye to that house you can't afford: The Wall Street Journal reports 1 in 6 homes in extremis.

Google has developed a tool to stop drunk email embarrassment. (The Guardian)

Did you hear the one about the anti-Obama author in Kenya? He got deported! (The Christian Science Monitor)

NBC reports that NBC did nothing wrong when they pulled the bailout "shoot the bums" skit from online venues so they could remove the "shoot the bums" part.

This is why Sarah Palin need to shut up: A man was shot in London, folks, for wearing an Obama t-shirt by a man who said that's why he was doing it. (Daily Mail UK)

And here's Talking Points Memo on McCain using Hillary's attacks on Obama, which explains, among other things, why she didn't get the VP nod.

New Currency

Fundamentals are strong... Sound as THIS DOLLAR!

It is always about the money.

perfect

too bad America was too stupid to realize this in 2000.

John Harwood on CNBC: "It's over"

Quoting a text to him following the debate from high ranking G0Per in the midwest.

It is always about the money.

The best line from last night

came neither from Obama nor McCain:

On Jay Leno's "Tonight" show, while discussing Repugnican Attack Dog Sarah Palin, Bill Mahre said it:

"Intellect is like pornography: I know it when I see it. She doesn't have it."

Treason?

McCain could call Obama a terrorist. His people yell out "kill him" and "treason". Yet, when McCain has the opportunity to say these things to Obama's face, he couldn't. It's not because he can't lie, it's because he can't lie to Obama's face.

Fox was freaking out after the debate because McCain threw another "hail Mary". He said he would buy up and support home loans. Fox sees this as "socialism".

Bomb bomb bomb....

I would get Bin Laden no matter where he is.

McCain, "I know how to get Bin Laden". As head of the Republican Party, McCain could pick up the phone and share that info with Bush at any time. If you know and don't share, is it "treason"?

you people

you made fun of Molly Ivins and Ann Richards back in 2000 and they were warning you (in a comedic way).
We texans knew that (most importantly) he wasn't a true texan and of course he is dumb as a box of hammers.
