Barack Obama is about to be on Bill-o's (Bill O'Reilly) show. This will be the first time I've watched it, so I'm in for some culture shock. It's open thread time, and I will liveblog it as best I can.
Keep refreshing for updated blogging. I usually try to post as I go.

A few weeks from now....
when you're licking your wounds and wondering what the hell went wrong, remember what tiny-obama said today....
“I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated,” Obama said while refusing to retract his initial opposition to the surge. “I’ve already said it’s succeeded beyond our wildest dreams.”
What Barack? In ways nobody anticipated? McCain did. Bush did. You didn't. Reid didn't. Botox Nancy didn't.and comb-over Joe Biden didn't.

Iraq: Christian Population Dwindling Due To Threats, Attacks
By Kathleen Ridolfo
May 31 (RFE/RL) -- Leaders of Iraq's Christian community estimate that over two-thirds of the country's Christian population has fled the country since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.
Some Christian leaders have likened the targeting of Christians to an ethnic-cleansing campaign. "Christians in Iraq are on their way to extinction, cut off from the country's political process," said Father Bashar Warda, the rector of St. Peter Major Seminary, IRNews reported on May 25. He blamed the continuing crisis on the "indifference of Iraqi leaders," saying, "They do not consider us as belonging to this nation."

By deanrddSeptember 4, 2008 - 9:43pmChicago could use a surge of its own...
You forgot to mention that 123 Americans were killed in Chicago over this past summer, which is double the number of the Americans that were killed in Iraq over the same period. Maybe Obama should consider having a surge in his own state. How pitiful that he is unable (or unwilling) to provide safety/security for his own constituents in a small little state like Illinois and thinks that he can do that for the United States.

You should be mentioning the number of deaths of all people, not just Americans, in an area of the same population of Iraq over the same time period. Otherwise you are comparing cotton balls and bricks.

How about all the people in the world? Who have ever lived? Maybe we should talk about that...that is of course if I allow you to totally stray from the topic of how Barack Obama couldn't be any more ill-prepared to become the President of the United States.
His inability to even have a proposal on how to curb crime in Chicago demonstrates his indifference to a problem as well as the fact that he lacks the leadership to make the tough decisions on how to fight and win a war, whether in Iraq or in Chicago.
I know, he was probably hoping that the surge wouldn't work so he could use that during his campaign. Unfortunately for him, it backfired...good news for the troops, however.

Of course I know you weren't talking about America. I don't expect leftists to care about the lives of Americans.
Initially, this discussion was about Obama opening his mouth and displaying his ignorance of what will win wars and what will not. You suggested that the surge was not working by making a non sequitur statement to somehow prove your point. Do YOU know where the Christians are? Do YOU have the forwarding address for each one of them that has escaped from that region? Or was it your goal to display your true faith and allegiance to an ill informed candidate who talks before he he checks with his staff, by displaying your ignorance as well. Do you care that the streets of the third largest city in America are more dangerous than a war zone? Do you care that your candidate is so ready to criticize the President when he makes tough decisions about where and when to send our brave young men and women into battle, but is a complete failure in the only place where he supposedly has leadership experience. Of course you don't....You weren't talking about America.

By f u bush2September 5, 2008 - 12:18amWhat was the purpose of the surge?
I'll answer for you. According to Bush, it was to allow the Iraqi government to make progress and to allow them to secure the country themselves.
Has that goal been accomplished? Again, I'll answer for you; no.
The surge did not accomplish it's goal, therefore it didn't work. If the stated goal was to reduce violence, then you could say it worked; maybe. Too many other factors to consider.
If you say the surge did work, then why not pull out now? The Iraqis can take care of themselves right? So let's get the hell out and let them take take care of themselves. Hell they have enough money (billions!) to bribe the insurgents like we did.

By ObfuscatorSeptember 4, 2008 - 11:49pmCHRISTIANS ARE 40% OF REFUGEES
.
The majority of the nearly million Christians that have left Iraq are living terrible lives in neighboring countries where many have been reduced to begging because they are not allowed to work due to their refugee status.
Many of the remaining Christians stay because they have been living in Iraq before there was an Iraq all the way back to the year ZERO. The have to live in hiding. For survival, many have had to pretend to be Muslim. The ones that live in armed camps have no electricty nor running water.
Christians have actually been crucified for sport, Christian children have been beheaded. Christian forced into marriage with Muslim men and forced to "convert".
Christians begging for help have been told by this administration that the US can't show favoritism.
Christians begging to come here have been told by this administration they want to maintain an illusion of "diversity".
Christians of Iraq have been told they will NOT participate in the division of oil revenue.
The only cabinet post give to the Christians was the Ministry of Immigration.
I live in Chicago. You can't compare the plight of the Iraqi Christians to south side Chicago.
You are an ignorant pinhead, like all the other Republican who have participated in the destruction of the Christian religion in Iraq and the Iraq genocide against the Christians simply because you are too fucking stupid to actually do any research.
The plight of the Christians have been in every major newspaper all around the world. The media doesn't report it here because it is NOT a liberal media, but controlled by the conservatives who carefully screen what is actually published pertaining to this so called war.

To say the South Side of Chicago is more dangerous than a war zone in Iraq is a retarded lie. One, no one with a lick sense would make, much less believe.
I can also guarantee that you have never read the new Iraq constitution. WHEN THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT ALLOWED THIS TO BECOME THE CONSTITUTION OF IRAQ, WE LOST.
You ignorant moron. They declared themselves a fundamentalist Islamic state. You ignorant moron, they have devastated their Christian population while we did nothing. You ignorant moron, they have told us to get out. You ignorant moron, we are paying for everything bankrupting our country. You ignorant moron, the majority of our country is Christian. After devastating their own Christian population, they will NEVER, EVER be friends with us. You ignorant moron.
Article (2):
1st — Islam is the official religion of the state and is a basic source of legislation:
(a) No law can be passed that contradicts the undisputed rules of Islam.
2nd — This constitution guarantees the Islamic identity of the majority of the Iraqi people and the full religious rights for all individuals and the freedom of creed and religious practices. (Within Islam)
Article (3): Iraq is a multiethnic, multi-religious and multi-sect country. It is part of the Islamic world and its Arab people are part of the Arab nation.
The two question I have. You call yourself a Navy Vet. John McCain has one of the worst voting records against Veterans in the senate. How could you support him.
Second, John McCain's own Navy Crew members wanted to kill him. Which is why he was airlifted off the Forrestal - the only guy who wasn't severely injured. An aircraft carrier he nearly managed to sink. Why would a Navy man support him? It defies reason.

Isaac pointed to the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) report statistic that although Assyrians comprise only five percent of Iraq’s population, they make up nearly 40 percent of the refugees fleeing Iraq. He said that although all the ethnic and religious groups are suffering in Iraq, “it is clear that the Assyrian Christians are suffering by far the most…and they really have no one to protect them…”
In addition to the troubling Assyrian refugee statistic, there has been a rise in reports of persecution of Assyrian Christians in Iraq. Recently, in October, a 14-year-old boy near Mosul died by a crucifixion-murder. In the same month, Father Paulis Iskander was beheaded in Mosul.
“Christians in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East are an inconvenient minority,” said the Rev. Keith Roderick, Christian Solidarity International’s Washington representative. “Even though they are indigenous they are made to feel as they are interlopers.”
