40 YEARS LATER
There's been a lot of talk about protests at this year's Democratic convention and we ask – why? Should the masses assemble at the steps of the Republican machine? Is it just that Denver will be more fun so protestors are flocking there? We'll look back in history to the Chicago10 and the shocking protests at the 1968 convention. We'll be talking with Bobby Seale founder of the Black Panther Party and Paul Krassner, founder of FreeThought Magazine – about convention protests.
TORTURE
What is torture? Who better to tell us than a psychologist? But psychologists have been debating what constitutes complicity in aiding torture. Should they assist the military in developing interrogation methods? Dr. Bryant Welch says no! He's pushing his peers to make helping the military torture a violation of their professional code of ethics. We'll hear how that's going.
THE VEEPSTAKES
The NY Times has narrowed the field of potential Democratic VP choices to three.
We'll do the cursory speculating but you may change your mind once you hear why Kuby supports his choice.
Will McCain have an advantage because he won't be announcing his VP until after the Democratic Convention?
Meanwhile, the Washington Post admits they've given Obama three times more front page stories as McCain. But let's face it, Obama is just a bigger story. So how should a paper deal with that?
PRAYER
We'll talk with a bioethicist about a recent study that most Americans think prayer can help cure disease and injury. Does prayer help? Can it hurt? What might the implications of this be for, say, a person on life support beyond the help of science (but not prayer) who is costing the hospital, family and tax payers thousands of dollars a day?
And much much more including why Obama wants to boost NASA, how Cheney wants to boost energy companies profits and some lighter news like the couple who were tasered and arrested at their own wedding, why college Presidents want to lower the drinking age, smokeless cigarettes, and a lost humpback whale.

Obama watch at a fever pitch -
.." should the VP choice help him win the election or help run the government... or both? "
you don't have to worry about the latter if the former doesn't happen ...
... i like Joe Biden also ..
" he just gor back from Georgia .. the Country .. not the State "
don't worry about those credit card company issues .. he's a solid choice ..
you are right on about Hillary .. " it would be all about the Clintons .. "
who's it going to be David? .. " Jesus Christ ".. NOW THAT'S A LONG SHOT !!
WWRHD ..what would Rev Haggee do?
how about a dark horse choice ?.. Colin Powell .. pardon the pun ..
.. but it would a bold selection ..
and he's been severely burned by the dark side in power right now..
.. perhaps he's ready for some payback ..
i'm sure he'd have some enlightening things to say about deliberately misconstrued pre war intel

By MURFMANAugust 19, 2008 - 2:39pmLaugh Track (remember you heard it here, pre-pick)
This may be the last day to claim without controversy that the Joe Biden ethnic autonomy plan for Iraq was appreciated by the administration (Rumsfeld?) and “plagiarized,” i. e., adopted without credit, when the Sunnis were armed in Anbar. A candidate Biden would sound like “internet inventor” Al Gore to say so, all the more so because it’s looking more and more like a victory--not merely an exit--strategy.
Understandably the administration will deny it, if only to be able to mock Biden. They are aided in being able to do so by the fact that rather than admit to any major change in strategy, they hunkered down through the 2006 election, taking all the heat of the Jim Baker-Lee Hamilton panel and risking that the surge might come too late for the Awakening. The misconception that nothing could have changed until Rumsfeld left also helps. Don’t expect to hear from him.
Remember that you heard it here when the attack machine rolls out the old Gore laugh track should Biden go anywhere near this topic.
