Today on Doing Time- Wednesday, August 27th

By Victoria Hippel

Pantsuits of America Unite! Last night was all Clinton. She gave a rousing speech at the Dem Convention focused on McCain and what America needs moving forward. While reactions are still simmering, talk is milling about that the NY Senator may be considering another run in 4 years. Ron will give you his take on this and on what Bill Clinton needs to say tonight to move us forward.

As the focus shifts to the third evening of the Convention, we also look to Dem VP hopeful Joe Biden. What can we expect from him tonight? According to some GOP operatives, he’s got McCain nervous about his own VP choices, as McCain is keenly aware that Biden could take him easily in a knife fight.

In other Convention news, guess who else is in Denver? Wow how did you know? Our good friend Mitt Romney. He is pulling some low down dirty politics, as, a few blocks from the Pepsi Center, he leads a group of republicans in “Not Ready ‘08”, ripping into Biden and doing his best attack dog impression. Just… yuck.

And from the less tragic GOP party people, Chuck Hagel becomes the 8th GOP Senator to decide he won’t attend the Republican Convention next week. Instead opting for a tour through Central and South America.

In other non Convention world news, Russia now is raising the idea of another Cold War, saying they are ready America, just try it. This as news comes out that a top Cheney Aide was in Georgia before the conflict broke out two weeks ago. Well, as Ron mentioned yesterday, Cheney is on his way to the region next week, so calm your fears, the greatest American Diplomat is on the case!

In addition, Ron will talk to Stephen Edidin, Curator of the NY Historical Society’s latest exhibit, If Elected, The Game of American Politics, which examines the history of elections through campaign artifacts. Ron will also speak with Page Gardner, the President and Founder of Women's Voices, Women Vote, about her efforts to register women to vote for an unprecedented turnout this election. All this and check ins from the Pepsi Center in Denver. Stay tuned! You never know who’s going to pop in!

hillary delivers

It was an excellent speech by Hillary...
right for the opening sentence .. "I'm here tonight as .. and a proud supporter of Barack Obama"
the exhaled relief was audible

Her support for Obama was spoken with " passion, clarity and conviction "
But the big question tonight is if Bill can show the love for Barack.

Also can Joe Biden tie Bush to McCain and the Iraq war with the economy?
10 billion a month .. into the black hole of Iraq ...
It's the economy stupid

" phony doctored evidence"

Great interview with Congressman Ackerman ... discussing his Iraq war vote in courtroom terms .
"those of us who voted for the war was based on phony doctored evidence"

what kind of crminal offence would " deliberately misconstrued pre war intel " be considered?

why have there been no senate hearings?

Hillary Clinton

As I watched Hillary today as she asked that Barak Obama be nominated by ACCLAMATION and I could not have been more proud of her,of my party and my country. This is truly a great day in the history of our country. Now we must all work together to make sure that Barak becomes our President on January 20th so that we can begin to dig ourselves out of the hole that this administration has dug for us.
