Today on DT: A look ahead to 2025, latest on the economy, and are liberals obligated to defend Eric Holder?

By Dan Pashman

By now you've seen the video of Sarah Palin at the turkey farm,
where she went to pardon a turkey and ended up with turkeys being
slaughtered on camera right behind her. (If not, it's just below this
post.) But just because you've seen the video doesn't mean you've heard
it. Here at Doing Time we have special, highly sensitive microphones
that picked up some very shocking sound, and we'll play that on the
show today.

Plus a new intelligence report
looks ahead to 2025, and it ain't pretty. Apparently global warming
will help the Russians take over the Chinese mafia, and Americans will
be their slaves. Or something like that.

And yesterday a
blog commenter said that we shouldn't criticize Attorney General
nominee Eric Holder, because the right wing is already doing it. But it
is really up to the left to rally behind the troops, no matter what? Is
it up to Air America? What do you think? Call in at 866-303-2270.

So has anybody heard about

So has anybody heard about this indictment in Texas against Cheney and Alberto Gonzalez in Texas for alleged prison corruption?

Also, Vince Bugliosi has written a book making the case for the conviction of GW Bush for murder as a result of bringing the nation to war on false pretenses.

According to Bugliosi, even a presidential pardon cannot help Bush, for the following reasons 1. he cannot pardon himself, and 2. even if Obama were to Pardon him, it would not affect a State prosecution.

Bugliosi says he is going around the country to find a State prosecutor who will bring the case against Bush. Perhaps those good ol boys in Texas will slap the cuffs on Old George, and he, Dick and Alberto will end up sharing a cell.

Wouldn't that be somethin'.

Mukasey

Maybe Palin can get a ruling from Mukasey on whether or not the treatment of the turkeys constitutes torture?

More like that

Hi,

I appreciated the (brief) segment on how many of us, including folks in lucrative professions, are living much closer to the edge than a lot of us might imagine. And I also appreciate Ron's being frank about how it can undermine relationships with family and friends, as well as hearing that even a relatively big time talk show host and celebrity lawyer has his share of insecurity to deal with.

Everyone makes a big deal out of Obama's turning down jobs at white shoe law firms to (briefly) pay his dues as a community organizer before jumping on the political ladder (where he was pretty much assured of success).

It seems to me that Ron is walking the walk a lot admirably more than Obama-partciular given the latter's right wing cabinet appointments.

In the moment...

I entirely agree with what ron said about living in the moment. It's how I've tried to live for a long time.

The thing is that the common perception of time seems to me to be flawed. People speak of looking to the future which to me is impossible. The future comes upon us from behind while the past recedes away in front of us.

When the future is completely unpredictable and all you can reference is the past well all you really have is the present. Moments so brief we often miss them when they pass. Each moment deserves to be enjoyed in it's own right otherwise you and up just completely stressing yourself out over things that are not within your control.

I would say to relax and find the small things that you all to often overlook and enjoy them for what they are. No matter what we will survive and the world will go on. We just need to take it one step at a time and enjoy the moments.
