Siegelman calls on Pelosi to support subpoena of Alabama Republicans at Netroots Nation

for full size viewing go HERE

Update: In a nearly hour and half conversation exclusively streamed at Air America, Gov. Don Siegelman called on Nancy Pelosi to encourage the House Judiciary Committee to force Karl Rove's testimony in regard to his questionable prosecution by US attorney's in Alabama. Siegelman also called on Pelosi to encourage the Judiciary Committee to call for testimony from Alabama Republican operative William Canary and Bob Riely, Jr., son and former campaign manager for Alabama Gov. Bob Riely. Canary and Riely were both on a conference call with Republican Attorney Jill Simpson who has given sworn testimony that the two specifically discussed Karl Rove's involvement in and the political nature of the Siegelman prosecution. Canary and Riely would be unable to claim any sort of executive privelege if called to testify before Congress. Pelosi will be appearing at Netroots Nation tomorrow.

As more and more corruption and law breaking at the highest reaches of our Government reveal themselves, will the scandal surrounding the use of the Department of Justice as an electoral tool be the one that finally holds the Bush Administration to account? If so, there is one man who's story may seal the unraveling of this criminal regime.

CBS helps McCain cross the street

CBS has done it's best to earn a merit badge this week.

After all, when John McCain doesn't know the difference between Sunni and Shia, thinks Social Security is a disgrace, thinks 100 years in Iraq is just dandy, gets his econmic advice from the architect of our mortgage meltdown, thinks the Iraq government is strong but not strong enough to oust an occupier, doesn't know how to use even email.... why shouldn't CBS edit an interview with him to keep him looking like a fool?

If his base doesn't help McCain .. the terra-rists will win!

Siegelman challenges Pelosi and Congress

In a live interview with Governor Don Siegelman at Netroots Nation exclusively streamed on Air America.com, the Governor spoke of both the personal implications of this DOJ witch hunt and what needs to happen to ensure the rule of law in this country is upheld.

Don Siegelman: Free at Last! In anticipation of Nancy Pelosi attending Netroots Nation and taking questions, I asked the Governor what he'd like to ask of the Speaker:

Seder Not to put too fine a point on it, but tomorrow Nancy Pelosi will be here answering questions that have been submitted already. There may be some questions from the audience – if there was a question you'd like posed to Nancy Pelosi about this specific situation – a question or almost a question, what would it be?

Siegelman – Everybody here knows what it would be. If the House Judiciary does what we believe it will and should do, which is to support a motion for contempt citation. When that hits the Speaker's desk we want that pushed before Congress - the full House - we want a vote on it as quickly as possible. It's something that's important to our Democracy and it's important to this country. I think time is of the essence so we would want a quick response to a favorable motion to hold Karl Rove in contempt.

Rachel Maddow in the New York Times

From the NYT

She appeared on her way to a career as an AIDS-policy advocate when a funny thing happened: on a lark she auditioned to be the news reader and sidekick on a wacky FM morning radio program in the area. She got the job, which had her occasionally donning an inflatable calculator costume at a local Ford dealer. She acknowledged that the work was not exactly what she had in mind when she graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in public policy and from Oxford University, which she attended on a Rhodes Scholarship and where she earned her doctorate.

In 2004 she somehow parlayed her varied academic and drive-time radio experiences into a job as a co-host on a new morning program on Air America. That put her onto the booking lists of any number of cable news programs desperate for a fresh liberal voice.

“If you want a left-right fight, in 2004 or today, there’s this roster of dozens, if not hundreds, of conservative talk-show hosts to book,” she said. “On the left there’s Alan Colmes. Oh, wait a minute, he’s taken. I think I got booked, initially, by default.”
