The 527 Fairness Act of 2005 has a crappy name specifically to make you not realize that it guts, fillets, breads and fries McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform.  What do you think an individual who gives over a million dollars to a political party in every single election can expect for his or her investment/

4. Pet Story

Republican Cheerleader Marry Carey Farts on the Daily Show.  This is the Funniest Thing Ever.  It's juvenile.  It's unimportant.  It has absolutely no redeeming social value.  And we're not not not not sorry.  Occasionally, even the newsiest show in the world has to bow down before the altar of funny noises.  We surrender!

5.  DEVELOPING STORIES

trash

The Supreme Court be announce its final cases of the term on Monday, including possibly the Matthew Cooper & Judith Miller contempt case in the Valerie Plame affair.  Everyone will talk all weekend about whether Rehnquist will resign now that it's the end of the term.

And, it's friday, so watch for flaming stinky summer trash to be hauled out to the press release curb at the end of the afternoon!

focus

I've listened to every Rachel Maddow show and appreciate it as what I think Air America is all about.  It is natural for a show to grow and evolve, but I think some recent changes have weakened its focus.

First, I don't appreciate the intoduction on a second Kent Jones segment on New York news and sports; Sports news is available everywhere and I don't like wasting precious liberal radio listening time on sports.  More generally, are you a national show or a local show?  If you are national, New York news doesn't belong unless it is of national importance, or you are spotlighting various cities and it just happens to be New York's day.

Second, is the show for a general audience or a gay audience?  Yes, I know the anchor is a lesbian, so what?  I don't really mind the field trip to Seattle gay pride but I hope it doesn't mean I'm going to get less of the news I tune in for.  I also want the show to succeed, even from Rachel's kitchen if that's what it takes, so I want it to maintain its broad appeal.
