UNDERBELLY STORY
It has become a mainstream political perspective to argue that the private sector can always do things more efficiently than government. In all the hoohah about Halliburton and Custer Battles and all the contractors in Iraq, not many people question the basic premise of why it is that private companies are doing all this government work. Sure, we worry about fraud and about waste and about no-bid contracts, but the fact that this work is being contracted-out rather than done by the government itself has become basically accepted. Then you read a story like the airport security boondoggle on the front page of today’s Washington Post...

Unable to Download - INFORMATION UPDATE
The Download link here does work, however you must use the direct mp3 download link unless you have a program like iPodder, iPodderX, Doppler or others that support the Bit Torrent Protocol.
At the current time, the feed needs to be tuned(address changed slightly) to be compliant with the iTunes requirements. There is many podcasts that are not compliant with the unique iTunes requirements yet.
I will put in the information to Air America Place to see that the archive feed can be tuned to be compliant with iTunes. If one goes to the podcastalley.com web page details for The Rachel Maddow Show, there is a tuner link for making a podcast iTunes compliant,
Keep in mind that iTunes 4.9 was brought out a month earlier in order to be the first all in one(subscribes, downloads & plays) podcast subscription program. It is really a later stage public beta program. There will be other all in one podcast subscription programs coming soon from Odeo(from the people that wrote Blogger), from Yahoo and others.
At this early point in time, in just 2 days time, iTunes itself has increased podcast subscriptions by well over one million(http://playlistmag.com/news/2005/06/30/podcastitunes/index.php) and the iTunes Music Store has been so overwhelmed by hits that it has been inaccessable several times already.
