Sorry, I meant Rob Portman, not Porter. He WAS the Director of the Office of Management & Budget and before that he WAS "easily" elected to the House of Rep's in Ohio (until 05, I think). He also resigned from that post sometime last year for one of those unknown "family" things, perhaps getting ready for "bigger things?

Needless to say, he's very conservative and a young family man who has been quite close to the Bush family (you would think this to be a neg, but ...). He also was Assoc WH Counsel to Daddy Bush back in 1989, has had lots of diplomatic/executive/legislative experience, is from a swing state (Ohio), is very popular within the party and now seems to be one of the top contenders for veep in many reports I've read.

And I would like to add the name of Tim Pawlenty who is the Gov of Minnesota where Obama is currently leading.
