Seder's Last Show

By SEDER

After 4 plus years, this Sunday's Seder on Sundays very well may be my last regular appearance on the Air America Radio schedule. I've been told that I am one of those being considered for the 3-6pm slot but, frankly, particularly in this economy, I'd advise you not to place a bet on it.

Anyway, I will remain and am very appreciative to AAR for letting me continue as the online editor for AirAmerica.com. We are building an important online component to progressive talk. That said,  I am confident this will not be the last opportunity for you to hear/watch me on political talk.

I am proud of my work over the past four years, I started out as a pretty bad broadcaster but think I 've certainly become mediocre! Whether on the Majority Report, the SamSederShow or Seder On Sundays, my ratings have always been an improvement of the show that I have replaced or better than those that have replaced mine.

Some moments I am particularly proud of..

On the Majority Report, we gave now Senator Jim Webb his first national exposure when he was still a primary candidate during our Fighting Dem series we did with DailyKos.

I gave Ned Lamont his first national exposure before he declared for Senate in CT and he ultimately first "unofficially" declared his run with me on a Friday when I was filling in for Randi.

The time I got the right wing caller Dewey to cop to having some "feminization issues".

My long talks with the disputed Senator of Florida Katherine Harriss.

Just last month in the 3-6p slot, in interviewing Phillipe Sands, author of torture team, I played some exclusive audio of John McCain for him which he then went on to cite in Congressional testimony.

I've had a great opportunity to interview folks like Eddie Vedder to Ricky Gervais to Desmond Tutu to Gore Vidal to Howard Zinn to Sen. Russ Fiengold to Robert Altman to Fran Liebowitz, Triumph, Lawrence Lessig and on and on and on (and of course, Peaches).

Geek alert..Believe it or not, some of my biggest thrills were having the opportunity to meet bloggers I had read before starting doing radio--

It was and remains a real honor to have been part of launching air america and institutionalizing commercial left talk radio.

Finally, thank you folks  for the tremendous support you have shown me through the years. I have an unfortunate habit of being outspoken about things that don't behoove me professionally and I suspect I would have been gone long ago without you folks watching my back.

Come together

While I am watching the DNC make a decision regarding FL & MI, and seeing the Dem party come together, it saddens me to see that AAR cannot do the same. You, Sam, have been there from the beginning, you have given your all to this project, and you deserve to be a major part of this project.
AAR can succeed if it will take a step back, look objectively at what is happening at AAR and in this country, and see that different personalities are needed to keep AAR going.
For now, there are a number of men talking to callers, making comments about what is happening. There is Rachel, telling us the news and trying to get AAR recognized beyond the Internet. The Saturday shows are going along, healthy and well. There are zany men, serious men, and funny men on AAR.
What is missing is Sam Seder. Sam brings to the game his brilliant mind, his serious summaries of what is happening, and his wit to blend it all into a good mix. This combination is missing on AAR. Granted, I'd like to hear another woman representing 50% of the population. But that is not as important as hearing someone who speaks to me, who can combine the facts and come to a conclusion as easily, as quickly as Sam can.
Sam has learned a lot in the last four years. He deserves to learn more along with all of us.
I only hope that those at AAR who appreciate his followers listen to us, and give him the slot at 3 - 6pm. He deserves it, he wants it, we want that to happen.

We Love You Sam

We love you Sam and if you don't get the 3-6 time slot I am cancelling my premium membership. I have been holding out in the hopes that you would continue on AAR. I am considering a job change myself that will no longer allow me as much time to listen to my podcasts so if you are no longer on it won't be worth keeping my membership. I am sympathetic to your situation because I have been in a job for the last 6&1/2 years were my work has not been appreciated at all. It's scary but because of several contributing factors I have decided it is time to make a change. I just hope that if you do the same you will let us all know. Just for the record I would love to see you get the afternoon slot or perhaps even you and Maron together. I know that the economy is bad, but I am sure that you would be a better investment than Randi or many of the other people who have been guest hosting. Good luck in whatever you choose to do, just keep your fans informed.

Ditto

You took the words right out of my mouth

Censored Speech

Sam, I can't imagine what you could have said to have you taken off the air. I listened to many shows and heard you inform us all with lots of truth that we did not get elsewhere, and you delivered it with good humor.

I am so discouraged with AAR. If not for Rachel and Thom, I would be gone.

Please keep in touch somehow with us, your faithful fans.

Kit Pravda

PS Personally, I think back to the Pacific time 6-3am would be the perfect place for you. I no longer listen to that time slot.

I am gone - was waiting for this final

decision.

I will pay for progressive radio - else where. Sorry Sammy the Home page is going from AAR - which is launched everytime I turn on my computer to something else - maybe dailykos.

While I understand your staying with AAR is strictly economic - GET IT TOGETHER DUDE and get away from this dying brand.

You have more to offer - so do not go down with the ship. Seriously - Rachael and Thom - sorry cannot take everyday - they get on my nerves. That being said. There is a meduim for you - do more of your video clips - but I gotta tell you - the Drinking Liberally - was not funny.

So if @ 6:30 today - you do not come on to annouce your new show - then AAR IS DEAD to me.

FYI - member for 3 years 5 months - AAR - good luck in bankruptcy court.

I will download everysingle pod cast in the next week - and then cancell........

so done

Thanks

Your shows have become a bright spot in my week. It reminds me of when I used to watch TV and would have to organize my life around my favorite shows. For the past year, I've enjoyed spending Sunday afternoon with you and appreciated any other "bonus" shows you have done. You are one of the best interviewers on progressive radio today - I have tried them all. You are also the ONLY host I have never turned off. I always feel a strong sense of identification with you, as though you are as interested in getting to the bottom of things as am I. Keep seeking and sharing the truth, Sam. I think you have made a difference in moving the progressive cause along. I wish you the best.

Sam Seder is great!!! I'd

Sam Seder is great!!! I'd love to hear him in an afternoon slot. His loyalty to your station is clear -- and he sure did a great job filling in after Randi left.

Out of the woodwork

I have only posted once before (I think) but I feel strongly enough about this to de-lurk and voice my opinion.

Seder has earned the 3-6 slot, no questions asked. For Air America to give that time slot to anyone else (save moving Rachel's show into that slot and allowing Sam to follow) would be shooting themselves in the foot.

AAR and HRC

What is AAR going to do when Tues it becomes official that Obama is our candidate? They chased off all the Obama supporters, other than Rachel who seems fairly neutral. But, she is a TV personality and they wouldn't want to lose her. AAR became the Clinton tool and they are going down like she did! You got rid of all the good ones, Malloy, Rhodes, Maron and Seder. Thank goodness for Rachel and Thom is his own business, he doesn't need AAR and neither does Rachel anymore.

I dunno about AAR, but I'm guessing Mark Green will be racking it up as yet another campaign he lost...

Sam! You are the Best!

Sam,

Please nab Marc Maron and mosey over to NovaM, with the other folks who refuse to give the new owner of AA and the Clintons BJs.

AA is only a shadow of its old self. When Bush is out of the WH, AA will crumble. The local stations will have to reband.

Nova m radio

wt carpenter A good jewish boy like you enjoys nova on sunday's and its time to bring you home to where you belong. om is where the art is a /friend you haven't met yet/

Seder would work great at Nova-M

but I think Rhodes is trying to blackball Sam for being honest.

Rhodes blocking Sam

Whats the story here? Honest about what? Need some details.

Here's the deal, Sam.

I realize Janeane coming back is very unlikely, but it is my understanding that Mark Maron was also part of the Majority Report team initially.

The 3-6 timeslot should go to the new Majority Report hosted by Sam Seder and Mark Maron. I have been impressed with Mark on American Afternoon and know you guys work well together.

I will very much miss Seder on Sunday. Now we are back to canned reruns on Sunday afternoon, unless AAR has something else up their sleeve.

Let's ditch the afternoon celebrity thing and go with real progressive talk show hosts. I really think you guys could give Rhodes a run for her money and would like to see you have the opportunity. I can count on you not wasting time talking about Sex in the City. Poor Sarah and her aching feet. Who gives a shit? That should be a lesson to other women that wish to spend too much money on shoes just to impress your neighbor. That should be a subject for The View.

Look, I liked MASH too and I am sure Mike Ferrell has some interesting opinions and thought he did a great job on the series, but that is what guests on real talk shows are for. They should not be the talk show.

AAR needs to return to their roots and get away from sensationalist celebritude.

Not initially

I have listened since day one and Maron was on with Riley at first.

What a lineup.

They then had Rachel, Liz Winstead/Chuck D.

Then Al Franken.

Seder and Maron!

Not that Air America pays much attention to what their listeners actually want but ...

I vote for a Seder / Maron combo for the 3-6 slot.

NOTHING could top that!

Sam is the best

If the world were fair and just, and reason ruled, Sam Seder would be the afternoon host for AAR. He could include Marc Maron and Janeane Garafalo as he (and they) saw fit. His loyalty, his past success, and his talent should give him that-it's a no-brainer. Marc Maron would also be a wonderful addition, he brings an honesty and an off the radar perspective, not to mention some great comedy. But, he is not Sam Seder, and he is not what is so deperately needed in this country right now, let alone on AAR: clear headed, unapologetic progressive analysis, entertainingly presented with humor and integrity. Bring the Sammy. And give Maron a show too. The progressivesphere would heave a sight of relief.

Nice job

Your post above shows just what a class act you are, Sam. I first heard you with Jeananne on Majority Report and have been hooked ever since. You're well-informed, tell it like it is on even the tough topics (very rare on AAR) plus you use a bit of humor to keep things from getting to dry or depressing.

I'd love AAR to put you in the 3-6 timeslot.. with Maron would be fantastic.. but I've seen the management make too many bad decisions to hold out much hope. They should have put you in that slot the minute it became available!

So good luck to you Sam. I'll be listening this afternoon and will frequent samsedershow.com to get the latest. Wherever you land I'll be a listener/subscriber.

Wow! there seems to be a

Wow! there seems to be a significant amount of misunderstanding going on, doesn't there?

Love the Sam Seder = )
The book shows have been absolutely stellar! I'm in awe of Sam's ability to find such important & interesting work/authors - & his interviews w/ them are simply spot on.

& his integration of broadcasting w/ internet technology has been unique & exciting - not to mention he's a funny, funny guy = )

Mr. Smartypants Seder definitely belongs on the airwaves as much as possible - if AAR brass doesn't give him another program ASAP, they're kookoo = P

P.S. I am SO gonna miss hearing Jon Benjamin's spots - they always make me grin.

Give Seder his Due Already!

Will always be loyal to you Sammy.

AAR is retarded in not recognizing and rewarding your efforts and outstanding achievements in both broadcasting and connecting talk radio with the blogs that have been instrumental in shaping the American progressive and political dialogue. Anyone doing so in radio today has you to thank for blazing that trail. You saw the importance of this when no one else did. It is your legacy and I would argue, yours ALONE.

Excecutives at AAR, like the Democratic Leadership, mainstream media and of course the hideous Republican party have and continue to scoff at the viability and importance of the blogs ignoring completely that we are the American citizenry. We voice our concerns and frustrations daily against the tide of xenophibia, ignorance, apathy and greed that threaten our republic.

Thanks so much for all you've done and we'll all be here awaiting your return to the ariwaves after tonight.

Air America when are you going to grow up and stop pandering to mainstream bullshit thinking. Celebrity window dressing is not substance! Sam Seder is and has always been a tireless workhorse for this network and has, time and again, produced results with the most loyal following of any host. He did more than Franken in shaping the landscape of progressive talk radio becasue he does everything Al did and then some, including having super close friendships and professional ties with the proprietors of the biggest and most influential progressive blogs AND in showcasing the brightest of Democratic party hopefuls, some of whom now hold congressional offices.

Jeezus! What the hell is it going to take? It can't be good when your listeners are asking you the same questions we are asking of our government!! What the hell is it going to take!?

I agree

Hear Hear. Sam is so much better than Randi, and I really hate to listen to her show for any extended period. I can only take a short time. She rants and has some information, but Sam provides variety and calm interesting commentary. Please realize that progressive experiments are not going to work, because they take a while to get going. It took Sam and Al Franken a while, but they both turned out to be very good. Sam is fantastic and truly progressive. He asks the right questions and has become very good doing interviews. He asks the questions I would like to hear. Sometimes I think AAR doesn't see the gems they already have.

You're just too good for this network...

I can't think of a single reason why they refuse to put you on full-time other than they believe they can't compensate you what you're really worth.

Progressive radio cannot flourish with mediocre talent. It must have folks like you who can mix politics and humor to make it palpable for the masses. I've learned more from listening to you than I could ever repay. I'm a better citizen from having been your listener since day 1 of Majority Report.

I'm not going to rue this day of your last show because just as "What goes around, comes around", I also know that "Good things happen to good people", and you're among the best Sam.

Looking forward to seeing/hearing you soon.

True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country. ~Kurt Vonnegut

Too good?

I don't really agree with that but can't understand why they kept jerking him around.

Even when Al went off the air they had fill in hosts with no experience over someone loved like Sam.

I JUST DON'T GET IT.

SAM GO TO NOVA OR BE ON XM.

I signed back up to hear Sam for two days

When I heard they were going to have Sam guest hosting for a couple of days I decided to reward AAR by renewing my subscription. I have held off cancelling to see if they would follow with a full time contract. Their time is running out.

Terry

Only one more week of my paid membership left

and during that time I am going to listen 15 to 18 hours of past Seder shows. You definitely became my favorite from the beginning with "The Majority Report" to "Seder on Sundays."

I have no idea what Green and Company want to do with AA programming but their decisions have not been for me - from Jerry Springer to Lionel to Clout to other programs.

Good luck, Sam. I know you and your wife are quite creative and will do well with whatever projects you undertake.

I so enjoyed listening to you, your interviews, your rants, your discussions with superb panels, your talking about your daughter, your phone calls from listeners, your sound effects, your "shut the closet door, Josh," your calls to Creation Museum and other such conservative institutions and conservative politicans' offices and so on. I hope to re-hear much this coming week that will make me smile, laugh and moan that again and again your job at AA is not secure.

I am sad.

Sam Seder is a great talk show host and AAR should be ashamed

We know that AAR has had financial problems since the beginning and we know that the ownership has changed again and again until Marc Greens old money politics now has its claws deep into the well. It used to be that this was a liberal radio station with voices that informed from the left perspective, but now it appears that the station has taken on a very serious propaganda slant and as such only Rachel Maddow is left as a voice of sanity.

Ed Schultz is a little soft and not as well informed. Coz Carson is an activist who focuses on more local issues and thats about it.

Its too bad the 3-6 slot is going to be controlled by the voice of Marc Green management. Please dont give us anymore Ron Kuby or Ron Reagan Jr.

I think I might just switch myself back to sports talk.

WTF?

First the Kennedy and King assassinations, Yoko breaks up the Beatles, the Bush Junta steals the 2000 & 2004 elections and now this. It can hardly be surprising from the station that replaced you with the unlistenable Lionel. Oh, well...You're the best Sam. I will gladly move on to the station that gives you your next show.

Yoko didn't break up the Beatles

While I appreciate your point I must take strong umbrage with your statement that Yoko broke up the Beatles. Broke up John's marriage to Cynthia definitely, but not the Beatles. They were grown men, ready to move on.

That being said, I too am going to miss Sam.

As for AAR? They are the egg men. Goo goo ga-joob.

Oh, hell!

Sam, you have been wonderful in every way... I wrote earlier to AAR saying how much I'd love to listen to you in the afternoons - it would have seduced me away from Randi, I do believe! Thanks for all your loyalty, passion and brilliance!!

Peaches!

AAR do the right thing!

-----------------
Cue Imperial Death March!
Impeach Bush!

Keep Sam on AAR

It would be a mistake not to give Sam the 3-6 slot. He is the only person who will stop me from switching to listen to Randi Rhodes.

When I win the lottery and buy out

the current owners, I'll have you back on 5 days a week Sam :)

Until then, Nova M or bust!

We love you Sam!

Today is a very sad day, there are no more Sam Seder shows planned. What the hell is AAR thinking. We want our Sam and will follow him where ever he may go. AAR please don't screw this one up too. Fire lionel, he sucks! Then give Sam back that time slot.

Sam

Your following is growing by the day. And the loyalty of your fans just shows they have the good taste to stay with you and leave AAR if you do.

Sad to see a station commit suicide by consistantly makeing wrong choices. Like Lionel. Can't stand the man. I now watch TV instead of tuning to AAR after having AAR on my radio or streaming it all day.

Sam, you appeal to young and old and that is not easy to do!

Best wishes and best of luck to you for a successful future. And love to Niki and Myla.

Sam - Got a good idea

Go work with the center for American Progress - they have that "mic check" set up and have a studio.

Go national dude.... There are a whole lot of people who would support you in your owe show - so instead of AAR getting that 63.00 annual premuim - you could get at least the $10.00 monthly gig

It would take alot of listeners - but what the heck - should work.

Please answer this question Sam - How many listeners do you have on your Seder on Sunday shows? Seriously? Those are your base - $10 x 100,000 listeners = a lot a doe per month. Go for it.

eya gang!

been here from the first show. read most of the blogs, especially Sam's.

i've been just thinking about where we've been,

all the things we've done!

all the friends made.

Sam's been amazingly innovative,

funny, brilliant at times and a good friend.

go for it Sam! it's been a pleasure to listen to you!

Is it really finally all over?

If this really is finally the last Sam Seder Show then it really is a sad sad day for Air America Radio. It's like watching a relative with a sickness slowly degenerate into a shell of their former greatness. Sam was the last remaining vestige of what I used to love about AAR. I listened to him from day one of AAR , through his various shows and incarnations. I followed the soap opera of his mistreatment by management, sent emails of protest, signed petitions, etc. It is with a heavy heart that i will be saying a final goodbye to AAR if Sam does not get another show.

Sign up for the newsletter at samsedershow.com and let's all support Sammy wherever he lands next!

BUT, if he does end up with a show, I'll gladly pay for a podcast. So, Air America, do you want my measly subscription money or not?

Now somebody please put Lionel out of his misery SOON.

keep Sam on air

Please.

Sam is the man

Thanks for being there, Sam. I have been a fan of Air America from the beginning. You are the last original and also the best. I liked all of your shows and was disappointed when you went to Sunday afternoon, because I liked how you kept me current when you were on every day. I see Air America becoming main-stream and Republican light and it turns me off. I can listen to the people I like on Nova. You were the only reason I turned on AAR at all anymore. I am a 66 year old female and maybe not typical of your demographic. I understand no one in the media gives a rip about people my age because we don't buy the crap they sell. I like your fresh outlook and the different take you have on many subjects. You have always challenged my intellect and made me have many. ..oh yeah... moments. I think you are cute too! I have always found intelligent guys sexy...Pati

If AAR is trying to kill progressive radio...

... it's doing a great job...

I never listened to talk radio before AAR. I came to listen to Al Franken, and was thrilled to find Lizz, Rachel, Marc, Sam, Janeanne, Mike and Randi. Started listening everyday, all day long. Quickly the shows I loved started to disappear. Lizz, Mike and Marc first, then Janeanne left MR, but Sam's show quickly found it's stride and was becoming some of the best radio I've heard.

Then for some reason, they moved Sam to Sunday, and put a screeching idiot in his time slot.

Sam is top notch home grown talent. A true asset to AAR. He talks about relevant topics, has great humor, has incredible interview skills, and can deal with conservative callers like no other. Randi has lost the plot, and Sam is your best bet to pick up listeners during her time slot IMO.

I'd like to see that embarrassment... Lionel... removed from the station. What the hell were you thinking when you put him on the air? If he were my neighbor, I'd move. That would leave two slots open... one for Marc Maron, and another for Sam Seder.

Please get rid of Lionel, and put Marc Maron and Sam back in the weekday schedule. If I had three hours of Marc, and three hours of Sam a day to liven up the Thom/Rachel shows, I'd pay for a premium membership.

As it is right now, I'm finding it difficult to even think of spending money at a station that so mistreats it's listeners and on air talent...

Sam's blog is so busy

Can't get on!!

Unbelieveable!

Get with it AAR! Don't make another mistake. There are alot of us out here that want Sam and there are alot of us out herethat don't agree with Mark Green! You need to have both on to appease the greater audience. If you don't, you'll become just like the Limbaugh station. And they are beginning to fail.

Do you really want to lose all those listeners?

NO! NO! NO!

For the love of God... I am sorry but I have listened to AAR since the beginning and I am really getting frustrated. I ALWAYS looked so forward to Seder on Sunday's. I LOVED it when I would hear he was filling in for someone. He brings a wonderful look at all of the things going on around us and is so good at NOT dwelling on one particular subjet for a whole show (that is also why I Love Rachel and Thom's shows too) Lionel is great in his time slot, he helps to wake me up in the morning. I want MORE Sam, daily if possible. The day being Lionel, Thom, Sam and Rachel would be the best. Sam I cant handle you going away... it makes me want to cry. Both my husband and I love your shows and always listen whether it be on your show or someone elses. Please AAR take your heads out of your asses and give Sam whatever he wants and let us enjoy him and your station even that much more. If he goes, it will cause me to turn the station off even more than I have been lately. Do the right thing...

Lionel ????????

You like Lionel? HOw can you include him in the list-My god he is terrible. I can not listen to his insanity or his voice.

Get rid of Lionel and give one to Sam and one to Maron.

GET REAL.

lionel

Lionel is pretty hard to take.

I am rather mystified that AAR has kept him around.

If one can draw anything from the low number of average audience responses on his web page here at AAR, he can't be very popular at all.

I suppose he just works cheap, and kisses management booty big time.

He certainly isn't bashing Clinton as the majority of former AAR personalities had.

Yet, if you like him I wouldn't begrudge you.

Give a Seder fan a break.

Had to repost this from Sam's blog

Gee, I wonder how many times...
Submitted by maggiesboy on Sun, 06/01/2008 - 4:34pm.
Lionel's blog has crashed from being hammered by the masses?!!?!?

And AAR mgmt won't give Sam a slot? Obviously it must have been purchased by Murdoch who is afraid of it taking market share from the right wing spin machine.

___

I wonder too! Has it ever happened? Doubt it.

Yes

YES!

Sam - FUBAR

I echo eveyone else, put Sam on the 3-6 slot he more than deserves it. I started listening to AAR because of Al Franken and still listen because of Thom, Rachel, Ring of Fire, and of course Sam. Yes, I read FUBAR one of the first books that brought to light to the gross missdeads of the current administration.

{{{Sam}}}

You have been a reason to sit at the computer Sunday afternoons to stream AAR (and listen to the walk person when I can pick you up on WWRL) I've been a fan since the first days of Majority Report.

NOTE TO AAR: When considering whom to hire for the 3-6 slot, please remember: Sam can produce good shows consistently and his book shows in particular show how excellent he is at interviewing. He has a loyal fan base and can draw in special folks as guests. I'm a Premium now called On Demand Member or whatever and I appreciate a REGULAR Seder Fix. He's found a place in my heart and the hearts of other Sederistas. Please find a slot for the very special Sam Seder.

Thank you, Sam, for oh so much -- and thank you AAR for giving us Sam. (Now, let's all KEEP him!!!!)

4 "last shows" in 3 years?

Always available to fill in for other hosts...
[sigh] You seem to be the Rodney Dangerfield of AAR.
Try playing hard to get.
The premise of the show (talking about the Sunday talk shows) seemed ridiculous to me, but you pulled it off and I really enjoyed it. Also love the book shows.
Looking forward to your next gig.
And don't be such a bum about letting folks know when you can be heard again! Next time you agree to fill in for someone, job one is to post it to your blog, prominently, in large bold letters, with dates and times! Don't make me nag again!!!

Thanks

I can still remember your voice on the Majority Report during Hurricane Katrina. You alone expressed the outrage we were all feeling at that time. Thank you for providing a moral compass in our time of need. You did that again and again.

I have been a fan of all your shows. They were among the very best. But, I know we haven’t heard the last of Sam Seder.

Thank you Sam.

Big big big mistake AAR!

Everybody above has already said why. (And many many many blogs and emails before this have said so as well.)

No "On Demand" for me again until Sam gets a 5-day-a-week show, in a slot that works well with his family life as well as for ratings. Not even for Maron.

And I'll boycott anyone who advertises during Lionel on the internet stream. (It'll be painful to listen and find out who that is, but I'll do it somehow.)

I'll save my podcast money for an operation where hosts don't get demoted and canceled and played off against each other for saying what they think, whether that helps their boss's job prospects or not.

hmmm

Just to explain... Lionel is NOT one of my favorites, and it took me a very long time to accept him. There are certain subjects that make me turn him off, but lately he has been pretty funny. Now Sam? I have never ever turned off :-)

Hey Thanks AAR!

For reminding me that I'm not an AAR On Demand member.

Now just remind yourself of that everyday between now and the time Sam Seder gets his own daily radio show again.

Seder on EVERYday!! Get it together AARgh!

Sam's the ONLY talker that can pull me away from Rhodes

AAR doesn't seem to want to be a liberal talk distributor. That's why they are falling apart.

AAR is ignoring the obvious

Of course Sam keeps being grouped with Hartmann and Maddow... and not to dismiss John Elliott... as the best that AAR have to offer. The network's looking increasingly foolish as it bounces from host to host. Time will tell whether the "musical chairs" afternoon format hold the time slot or torpedoes the network. Sam brings us insight, zeal and teeth. If he doesn't get those hours but instead finds his way over to NovaM, I'll be following.

Why was Sam's ratings so low

Why was Sam's ratings so low

Why was Sam's ratings so low?

Why was Sam's ratings so low???

Why is your grammar so poor?

Why is your grammar so poor?

Sam's ratings were not low.

Link please!

Sam's ratings

Yes they ARE low. They would have kept him if his ratings were up.
you should know that AAR is about profit now. It's a BUSINESS desision.
Don't fool yourself by thinking other wise.

Don't be a douche

You have no idea what you're talking about. Air America has never focused on actual ratings, just potential possible ratings.

Seder on EVERYday!! Get it together AARgh!

Sposito!!

Randy is that you?!

Whoever you are, you should spell check and grammar check your comments in a word processing program and then cut and paste them into the blog. You would sound slightly less idiotic if your spelling and grammar weren't so atrocious, but you'd still be a jackass!!

They are low on sundays

But not when they gave him a real shot.

How do you spell stupid ? AAR Suits !

:(

Prove it sposito

Link his ratings!

There's not many on that can crash the AAR stream. Sam has!

It's not ratings, believe me.

What is AAR trying to achieve??

I can't believe it. Now Sam?? It seems the better the show gets, the more AAR is threatened by it? I could hardly stand it when they took away Marc Maron's incredible show for that disgusting Lionel. (I never thought someone could make me miss Jerry Springer on the radio!) Then Randi,.. Now Sam?? I can't understand what the direction is here! Do you have some sort of employee policy that they're not supposed to be entertaining AND informative? I keep finding less and less reasons to tune in. My big hope is that in 5 minutes from now, Sam is going to announce a daily show.. 3-6 pm.. and then.. Marc Maron in the Lionel Time slot. Give me just ONE of those things and see how fast I sign up for Premium.

SEDER 3-6

AAR Hasn't Supported Seder on Iota

I have been an AAR listener since discovering a few of the programs years ago. Rachel Maddow in the morning and Mike Malloy in the evening. And when Sam Seder showed up, I took to his style of broadcasting right away. I always enjoyed his presentation, and particularly how he handled right-wingers who called in. AAR hasn't been behind Seder one bit. It's pathetic because I think Seder added something very important to the line-up. Maybe it's time Seder jumps ship and finds a better home, an on-air spot to improve his resume, rather than helping out with the websites.

I heard Mike Malloy calling for his ass over at NovaM.

I don't get it

Sam,

Here in Chicago, as you probably know, AAR has had a spotty history. Until just a few months ago, it couldn't be heard anywhere in the city because the station it was on was weaker than a college FM. Finally, they got a strong signal, but they're still only on about 12 hours a day. Considering we're one of the bluest cities in the country, this just does not make any sense. Every time I get in a cab now, I hear AAR. I cannot imagine AAR isn't beating the local right-wing talker.

I'm completely puzzled by the programming decisions AAR has made. Sam Seder was always the most interesting show (at least broadcast on the Chicago station). I listened to Randy, though I thought she was only fair, but the revolving celebrities in the afternoon has been downright painful. Roseanne Barr?? Come ON. The woman from the view? I lasted about 90 seconds. It's a disaster.

You mean to tell me that now they're getting rid of their most interesting personality? Are they TRYING to fail? Maybe it's time for another progressive talk network to do it right. And if they REALLY wanted to do it right, they'd need to put on Seder in the Mornings (or evening drive).

That's my little bit. Thanks Sam.

Here is one out of my b*t

ARR management is purportedly pro-Clinton.

If so, perhaps they believe (for whatever reason) that Clinton will take her bid to the convention.

They are clearing any potentially LOUD voices against her doing so.

MEH?
